VOICe Prevention Programs
VOICe (Victim Outreach Intervention Center) offers research-based primary prevention programs. Best practice programs are often quite long (8-12 sessions) and many schools and community groups are unable to accommodate the intensity, given other schedule demands. Other, shorter programs have been developed to meet community requests, though these programs have not been rigorously evaluated to demonstrate effectiveness. VOICe currently provides a three-session program focusing on transforming gender stereotypes as a strategy for creating safer and more equitable teen dating relationships. In addition, self-defense programs are offered and programming is provided at Slippery Rock University.
