Change Happens Here: NO MORE Week 2019
During the week of March 3-9, we support survivors and recognize those who are working to end domestic and sexual violence in our community. This week allows us to make the commitment to help change a culture that has accepted violence for too long. Change happens everywhere. #ChangeHappensHere!
MARCH 5: Nearly 50 corporate leaders gathered at Hotel Monaco for the Fifth Annual Corporate Leadership Breakfast to End Violence Against Girls and Women. Among those who presented at this meeting were Rich Fitzgerald, County Executive, Allegheny County; Bob Nutting with the Pittsburgh Pirates; Evan Rosenberg of The Pittsburgh Business Times; Kevin McMahon, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust; David Holmberg, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, and incoming Board Chair, United Way of Southwestern PA and Chairman, ATI, Rich Harshman.“We cannot be satisfied until we have zero incidents of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and domestic violence. It’s a big task, and it has to start somewhere. Why not here?” said Mr. Harshman.
MARCH 6: Over 50 came together at Rodef Shalom for Southwest PA Says NO MORE’s Annual Meeting. The meeting focused on how we can collectively advance prevention efforts. We highlighted the impact of our work to date and received lots of great ideas on how we can be a partner and resource in creating a world free from domestic violence and sexual assault.
MARCH 9: Local high-school coaches came together for a Coaching Boys Into Men training at Heinz Field with special guest, Kevin Colbert, general manager of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The event prepared coaches to implement CBIM this spring.
