Spotlight on Alice Paul House
In our spotlight series, Executive Director Audia Boyles talks about serving the community and the heightened response during the pandemic.
“As we reach the fifth week of the stay home order, has anyone thought about the victims of violence that are unable to escape the daily abuse? The Covid-19 pandemic has touched us all in one way or another. With schools closed, and many individuals working from home, we have a chance to spend more time with our families and pets. However, for many Americans, home is one of the most dangerous places to be. Alice Paul House, located in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, continues to offer services to victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, other crime and juvenile offenders within their community. Alice Paul House is utilizing social media as a platform to educate and remind the community about victimization. Social media gives us a platform to continue to provide prevention and education awareness, connecting Alice Paul House Advocates who are social distancing at home who don’t have access to in-person advocacy.”
